Hello there. My name is Oliver Probert, and it’s great to finally meet you. Here’s five key things about me and my life:
- I live in Sydney, Australia, and I’m a Media student at UNSW.
- I’m a journalist, both professionally and for fun. Professionally, I write for Lloyd’s List Australia. It’s a shipping industry publication, and comes to readers as both a weekly newspaper, and a daily e-newsletter. While I take it very seriously, it’s a nieche publication, so I don’t mind if you don’t give it any thought.
- Journalism for fun? Well, I’m a sports fanatic, and vent my sports rants through my other blog, Outside Wisecracker. Other ways you can join in the fun are – obviously – this blog, as well as my Tumblr, and my Twitter feed @OliverProbert.
- I’m a consultant for Dialogue Consulting, and a serious social media enthusiast.
- My other interests include sailing, films, TV and video games.

"It would be a blog! ... About NOTHING!"
So now that’s out of the way, let me introduce Olivr: The Blog. You’ve stumbled across it today, probably just looking for something funny or interesting to look at. Well I’ll tell you now: this a blog about nothing.
Well – not nothing - but rather, nothing in particular. I realise that that concept is in no way unique (but what is, nowadays?). This blog simply acts as my personal outlet for writing about anything I feel like. As a journalist and an aspiring writer, I am constantly looking for new ways to work on my craft.
Enjoy reading, and please do comment, subscribe and join in the fun.
